WEIGHT MANAGEMENT PROGRAM

Obesity in dogs, if left untreated can lead to many health disorders including Diabetes Mellitus, arthritis, joint problems, heart and breathing problems. Obesity is a product of many factors including overeating, diets rich in empty calories, certain diseases, decreased activity and age.

To help your dog lose weight a total commitment from you is needed. A low calorie diet program, as well as a personalized low impact, controlled aerobic exercise protocol will be designed for your pet. A goal will be established, and an estimated time frame to achieve that goal will be set.

Your pet will be exercising on a JOGADOG land treadmill design exclusively for dogs. The treadmill offers the convenience of a controlled indoor-air conditioning environment for exercising. Exercise programs are individualized based on your pet’s weight, age, muskuloskeletal and cardiovascular conditions. Speed, duration and frequency of the exercise sessions will be monitored, and increased as your pet’s overall physical condition improves. Walking 5 minutes on the treadmill can produced the benefits of a 30-minute walk outside since the movement is continuous, with no distractions.  The land treadmill is also an excellent resource for the improvement in the Range Of Motion of the joints, and tonification of the muscles of overweight dogs with early arthritis, and those with hip dysplasia.

Our Canine Weight Loss Program is ideal for the busy dog owner without the time to provide adequate exercise for the overweight pet, and for the dog that persistently keeps those extra pounds regardless of the owner’s efforts. Our trained staff will closely monitor your pet, so an ideal body weight and improved cardiovascular capacity can be reached in a safe manner. Your dog will be able to enjoy a longer and better quality life.
